A multitude from the ancients. 39 and also a large throng from those of later times. 40 Those on the Left: how unfortunate are those on the Left! 41 In hot wind and boiling water, 42 in the shadow of a smoking blaze, 43 Which is neither cool nor is for respect. 44 Before they lived at ease, 45 and would persist in heinous sinning, 46 and would say: "What! After we have died and become mere dust and bones, shall we, forsooth, be raised from the dead? 47 We and our fathers of old? 48 Say: "Yea, those of old and those of later times, 49 "All will surely be gathered together for appointed Meeting of a known Day. 50 Then shall you, O you who err and call it a lie! 51 shall all eat from the Tree of al-Zaqqum, 52 filling your bellies, with it 53 and thereupon you shall drink boiling water, 54 lapping it down like thirsty camels.' 55 That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense. 56 We created you; therefore why will you not believe? 57 Behold! that which ye emit. 58 Did you create it, or are We the Creator? 59 We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone 60 In order that We may bring in your place the likes of you and make you grow into what you know not. 61 And verily ye know the first creation. Why, then, do ye not reflect? 62 See ye the seed that ye sow in the ground? 63 Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower? 64 Did We will, We would make it broken orts, and you would remain bitterly jesting -- 65 Verily we are undone. 66 Nay! we are deprived. 67 Have you considered the water which you drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds or We? 69 Did We will, We would make it bitter; so why are you not thankful? 70 Have you thought about the fire you kindle? 71 Is it you who have produced its tree or is it We who have produced it? 72 We have made it to be a reminder and a benefit for the wayfarers. 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
