A company of the former peoples 39 And a (goodly) number from those of later times. 40 As for the People on the Left: how miserable will be the People on the Left! 41 In hot wind and boiling water, 42 and under the shadow of black smoke, 43 [shadows] neither cooling nor soothing. 44 Surely they were before that made to live in ease and plenty. 45 and they persisted obstinately in awful sin, 46 And said: "What! When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we then be raised again? 47 "And also our forefathers?" 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 Will all be brought together to the tryst of an appointed day. 50 Then you, you misguided ones, who deny the truth, 51 "You verily will eat of the trees of Zaqqum. 52 Fill your bellies with it, 53 And drinking on top of it from scalding water 54 drinking it as thirsty camels do.” 55 Such will be their dwelling on the Day of Judgment. 56 We created you, then why do you believe not? 57 Have you seen sperm? 58 Is it you who create it (i.e. make this semen into a perfect human being), or are We the Creator? 59 It was We who decreed death among you. We will not be surpassed 60 In order that We may bring in your place the likes of you and make you grow into what you know not. 61 And ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises? 62 Tell Me! The seed that you sow in the ground. 63 Do you make it grow or is it We who make it grow? 64 [For,] were it Our will, We could indeed turn it into chaff, and you would be left to wonder [and to lament,] 65 [Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt; 66 nay; we have been undone!” 67 See ye the water which ye drink? 68 Do ye bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We? 69 If We will We can make it bitter, so why do you not give thanks? 70 Have you thought about the fire that you kindle. 71 Is it ye who grow the tree which feeds the fire, or do We grow it? 72 We! it is We Who made it a reminder and a provision unto the campers. 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
