Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
A multitude from the ancients. 39 and also a large throng from those of later times. 40 And those on the left - how are those on the left! 41 They will find themselves in scorching wind and scalding water, 42 in the shadow of a smoking blaze, 43 Which is neither cool nor is for respect. 44 Indeed they were among favours before this. 45 And they have been persisting in the heinous offence. 46 And they used to say, "What! when we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised up again?- 47 Will our ancient forefathers be resurrected too? 48 Tell them, (O Prophet): “The earlier ones and the later ones 49 Will be gathered together on a certain day which is predetermined. 50 Then you, the erring and the deniers, 51 shall all eat from the Tree of al-Zaqqum, 52 And fill (your) bellies with it; 53 And upon it, you will drink the hot boiling water. 54 drink it as the most insatiably thirsty camels drink!" 55 Such will be their entertainment on the Day of Requital! 56 We created you, why will you not believe! 57 Do ye then see?- The (human Seed) that ye throw out,- 58 Is it ye who create it, or are We the Creators? 59 We! it is We Who have decreed death unto you all. And We are not to be outrun. 60 In the matter of exchanging you for others, and to transform you into what you do not know. 61 And assuredly ye have fully known the first production wherefore heed ye not? 62 Tell Me! The seed that you sow in the ground. 63 Do you make it grow or is it We who make it grow? 64 Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry powder, and ye would be left in wonderment, 65 And say: "We have fallen into debt; 66 nay, we have been robbed!' 67 Have you seen the water which you drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds, or are We the senders? 69 If We will We can make it bitter, so why do you not give thanks? 70 Have you thought about the fire that you kindle. 71 Did you make its tree grow or was it We Who made it grow? 72 We have made it to be a reminder and a benefit for the wayfarers. 73 Therefore glorify the name of your Lord, the Great. 74

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
