These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient 39 And a (goodly) number from those of later times. 40 But those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) those of the left hand -- 41 Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water, 42 And shadow of black smoke, 43 which will neither be cool nor soothing. 44 They had lived in luxury before this 45 And were stubborn upon the great sin (of disbelief). 46 and constantly said: 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we then be restored to life? 47 And also our forefathers? 48 Proclaim, “Without doubt all – the former and the latter.” 49 Will be gathered together on a certain day which is predetermined. 50 Then shall you, O you who err and call it a lie! 51 Most surely eat of a tree of Zaqqoom, 52 and you shall fill therewith your bellies 53 And thereon ye will drink of boiling water, 54 lapping it down like thirsty camels.' 55 Such will be their dwelling on the Day of Judgment. 56 We have created you, why do you not then assent? 57 Have you seen that which you emit? 58 Is it you who create it (i.e. make this semen into a perfect human being), or are We the Creator? 59 We! it is We Who have decreed death unto you all. And We are not to be outrun. 60 In the matter of exchanging you for others, and to transform you into what you do not know. 61 You are well aware of the first creation; then, do you learn no lesson from it? 62 Have you seen what you sow? 63 Is it you or We Who make them grow? 64 If We willed, We verily could make it chaff, then would ye cease not to exclaim: 65 [Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt; 66 nay; we have been undone!” 67 Have you seen the water which you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it from the rainclouds to come down, or are We the Causer of it to come down? 69 If We will We can make it bitter, so why do you not give thanks? 70 And have you seen the fire that you ignite? 71 Is it you who made the tree thereof to grow, or are We the Grower? 72 We have made it a Reminder (for the Hell-fire, in the Hereafter); and an article of use for the travellers (and all the others, in this world). 73 So glorify the name of your Lord, the Supreme. 74
