A numerous company from among the first, 39 and also a large throng from those of later times. 40 And those on the Left Hand Who will be those on the Left Hand? 41 They will live amid the scorching, 42 and the shadow of a smoking blaze 43 (That shadow) neither cool, nor (even) good, 44 and before that they lived at ease, 45 And persisted obstinately in wickedness supreme! 46 And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised? 47 "(We) and our fathers of old?" 48 Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, the former and the later peoples 49 shall all be brought together on an appointed Day. 50 Then indeed you, the astray, the deniers – 51 You will indeed eat from the Zaqqum tree. 52 You shall fill your bellies with it, 53 And shall be drinkers thereon of boiling water. 54 Drinking even as the camel drinketh. 55 Thus shall they be entertained on the Day of Recompense. 56 We created you. Will ye then admit the truth? 57 Then tell Me (about) the human semen that you emit. 58 did you create it or did We? 59 We have decreed among you Death; We shall not be outstripped; 60 Had We so wished, nothing could have hindered Us from replacing you by others like yourselves, or transforming you into beings you know nothing about. 61 And assuredly ye have fully known the first production wherefore heed ye not? 62 Have you ever considered the seed which you cast upon the soil? 63 Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer? 64 If We willed, surely We would make it chaff, so that ye would be left wondering. 65 (Saying:) 'We are laden with debts! 66 Aye! we are deprived! 67 Have you considered the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it from the rainclouds to come down, or are We the Causer of it to come down? 69 Were it Our Will, We could make it salt (and unpalatable): then why do ye not give thanks? 70 Behold! the fire which ye strike out: 71 Did you make its tree grow or was it We Who made it grow? 72 We have made it a Reminder (for the Hell-fire, in the Hereafter); and an article of use for the travellers (and all the others, in this world). 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
