a large group of the earlier people 39 and a multitude of the later people. 40 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 41 (they shall live) amid burning winds and boiling water, 42 scalding water and under a shadow of black smoke, 43 Nothing (will there be) to refresh, nor to please: 44 Indeed they were among favours before this. 45 And used to persist in the awful sin. 46 And they used to say, "What! when we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised up again?- 47 (We) and our fore-fathers of yore?” 48 Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, the former and the later peoples 49 “They will all be gathered together – on the appointed time of the known day.” 50 Then indeed you, the astray, the deniers – 51 shall eat the fruit of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 You shall fill your bellies with it, 53 And drink over it scalding water, 54 Drinkers even as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 Such will be their welcome on Judgment Day! 56 We have created you: why then do you not accept the truth? 57 Have you considered the seed? 58 Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator? 59 We have decreed death to you all, and We are not unable, 60 in replacing you with another creation like you, changing you into a form which you do not know. 61 You have known the first creation, then why do you not reflect? 62 Have you considered the seeds you till? 63 is it you that sow it, or are We the Sower? 64 If We willed, We verily could make it chaff, then would ye cease not to exclaim: 65 Lo! we are laden with debt! 66 nay, we have been robbed!' 67 Consider the water that you drink. 68 Is it you who cause it from the rainclouds to come down, or are We the Causer of it to come down? 69 If We so pleased, We certainly could make it salty. Why, then, are you not grateful? 70 Have ye observed the fire which ye strike out; 71 Is it ye who grow the tree which feeds the fire, or do We grow it? 72 It is We who have made it a means to remind [you of Us,] and a comfort for all who are lost and hungry in the wilderness [of their lives]. 73 So glorify the name of your Lord, the Supreme. 74

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
