a large group of the earlier people 39 And a numerous company from among the last. 40 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 41 They will be in the midst of scorching wind and boiling water, 42 And shadow of black smoke, 43 neither cool nor good. 44 Surely they had lived before in luxury, 45 And used to persist in the awful sin. 46 And they used to say: "When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be resurrected? 47 (We) and our fore-fathers of yore?” 48 Proclaim, “Without doubt all – the former and the latter.” 49 shall be gathered to the appointed time of a known day. 50 "Then moreover, verily, you the erring-ones, the deniers (of Resurrection)! 51 Shall surely eat of the tree of Az-Zqqum. 52 And will fill your bellies therewith; 53 And drink over it scalding water, 54 and you will drink as the lapping of thirsty camels. 55 This shall be their hospitality on the Day of Doom. 56 It is We Who have created you: why will ye not witness the Truth? 57 Did you ever consider the sperm that you emit? 58 Did you create it or was it We who created it? 59 It is We Who have ordained death among you, and We have not been beaten – 60 To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not. 61 You have surely known of the first creation. Why then, will you not remember! 62 So what is your opinion regarding what you sow? 63 Cause it ye to grow, or are We the Grower? 64 Did We will, We would make it broken orts, and you would remain bitterly jesting -- 65 Lo! we are laden with debt! 66 Nay, but we have been deprived [of our livelihood]!" 67 Tell Me! The water that you drink. 68 Do you send it down from the clouds, or We send it down? 69 If We pleased, We would have made it salty; why do you not then give thanks? 70 So what is your opinion regarding the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you that originated its tree, or are We the Originator? 72 We have made it a reminder, and a blessing to the traveler. 73 Wherefore hallow thou the name of thy Lord, the Mighty. 74
