A multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the first generation (who embraced Islam). 39 And a crowd of the later. 40 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 41 They will find themselves in scorching wind and scalding water, 42 and the shadow of a smoking blaze 43 Neither cool nor pleasant. 44 Before they lived at ease, 45 And were stubborn upon the great sin (of disbelief). 46 and they used to say, "What! After we have died and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up again? 47 What, and our fathers, the ancients' 48 Say: 'The ancients, and the later folk 49 “They will all be gathered together – on the appointed time of the known day.” 50 "Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!- 51 Shall surely eat of the tree of Az-Zqqum. 52 "Then you will fill your bellies therewith, 53 and shall drink boiling water on top of that. 54 And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 Such will be their welcome on Judgment Day! 56 We created you; therefore why will you not believe? 57 Then tell Me (about) the human semen that you emit. 58 Is it you who create it (i.e. make this semen into a perfect human being), or are We the Creator? 59 We have ordained death among you and We are not to be overcome, 60 In the matter of exchanging you for others, and to transform you into what you do not know. 61 You are well aware of the first creation; then, do you learn no lesson from it? 62 Have you thought about what crops you plant? 63 Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer? 64 Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry pieces, and you would be regretful (or left in wonderment). 65 "Verily, we are ruined! 66 Rather, we have been deprived." 67 So what is your opinion regarding the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds or is it We Who brought it down? 69 [It comes down sweet - but] were it Our will, We could make it burningly salty and bitter: why, then, do you not give thanks [unto Us]? 70 Did you consider the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you who have brought into being the tree that serves as its fuel - or are We the cause of its coming into being? 72 We! it is We Who made it a reminder and a provision unto the campers. 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
