A (goodly) number from those of old, 39 And a company of the later peoples. 40 And those on the left hand: What of those on the left hand? 41 (they shall live) amid burning winds and boiling water, 42 And in the shades of Black Smoke: 43 Neither cool nor beneficial. 44 Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence, 45 And were persisting in great sin (joining partners in worship along with Allah, committing murders and other crimes, etc.) 46 They used to say: “What! Once we are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, shall we still be raised to a new life from the dead? 47 We and our fathers of old? 48 Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Lo! those of old and those of later time 49 Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day." 50 Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers, 51 Will be eating from trees of zaqqum 52 Then will fill your bellies with it. 53 and on top of this you will drink boiling water 54 Lapping it up like female camels raging of thirst with disease." 55 That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense. 56 We have created you, why do you not then assent? 57 Have ye seen that which ye emit? 58 Did you create it or was it We who created it? 59 We have decreed among you Death; We shall not be outstripped; 60 in replacing you with another creation like you, changing you into a form which you do not know. 61 And certainly you know the first growth, why do you not then mind? 62 Have you seen what you sow? 63 Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower? 64 If We will We can make it like dry trampled hay, so you would keep crying out. 65 Surely we are burdened with debt: 66 "Indeed are we shut out (of the fruits of our labour)" 67 So what is your opinion regarding the water that you drink? 68 Did you send it down from the clouds, or did We send it? 69 Were it Our Will, We could make it salt (and unpalatable): then why do ye not give thanks? 70 Have you ever considered the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you who have produced its tree or is it We who have produced it? 72 We have made it a memorial (of Our handiwork), and an article of comfort and convenience for the denizens of deserts. 73 So glorify your Lord, the most supreme. 74

Notes and Instructions
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
