These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient 39 And a numerous company from among the last. 40 And the fellows on the left hand; how miserable shall the fellows on the left hand be! 41 In fierce hot wind and boiling water, 42 in the shadow of a smoking blaze, 43 which will neither be cool nor soothing. 44 They were endowed with good things 45 And persisted obstinately in wickedness supreme! 46 and would say: "What! After we have died and become mere dust and bones, shall we, forsooth, be raised from the dead? 47 What, and our fathers, the ancients' 48 (Muhammad), say, "All the ancient and later generations 49 shall all be brought together on an appointed Day. 50 Then you, the erring and the deniers, 51 shall all eat from the Tree of al-Zaqqum, 52 And fill (your) bellies with it; 53 and drink on top of that boiling water 54 drinking it as thirsty camels do.” 55 Such will be their welcome on the Day of Judgement. 56 We created you, why will you not believe! 57 Behold! that which ye emit. 58 Did you create it or was it We who created it? 59 We have ordained death among you and We are not to be overcome, 60 In order that We may bring in your place the likes of you and make you grow into what you know not. 61 You have certainly known the first creation. Why, then, do you not take heed? 62 Ponder upon the soil you till, 63 Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower? 64 If We willed, surely We would make it chaff, so that ye would be left wondering. 65 (Saying:) 'We are laden with debts! 66 "Indeed are we shut out (of the fruits of our labour)" 67 See ye the water which ye drink? 68 Is it you who cause it from the rainclouds to come down, or are We the Causer of it to come down? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 Behold! the fire which ye strike out: 71 Did you make its tree grow or was it We Who made it grow? 72 We have made it a reminder, and a blessing to the traveler. 73 So glorify the name of your Lord, the Supreme. 74
