A numerous company from among the first, 39 And a numerous company from among the last. 40 And those on the Left Hand Who will be those on the Left Hand? 41 (they shall live) amid burning winds and boiling water, 42 And shadow of black smoke, 43 neither cool nor refreshing. 44 For that they were wont to be indulged, before that, in wealth (and luxury), 45 And were persisting in great sin (joining partners in worship along with Allah, committing murders and other crimes, etc.) 46 And they used to say, “When we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, will we surely be raised again?” 47 What, and our fathers, the ancients?' 48 Say: 'Those of ancient times and those of later times 49 Are going to be assembled on the appointed time of a Day Known. 50 Then lo! ye, the erring, the deniers, 51 Most surely eat of a tree of Zaqqoom, 52 "Then will ye fill your insides therewith, 53 and drink boiling water on top of that, 54 like a thirsty camel". 55 Such shall be your hospitality on the Day of Recompense. 56 We have created you, then why would you not confirm it? 57 Have you considered the seed? 58 Did you create it or was it We who created it? 59 We have incorporated death in your constitution, and We shall not be hindered 60 In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know. 61 And verily ye know the first creation. Why, then, do ye not reflect? 62 Have you seen what you sow? 63 Do you yourselves sow it, or are We the Sowers? 64 If We will, We would make it broken stubble and you would remain wondering, 65 Lo! we are laden with debt! 66 nay; we have been undone!” 67 Have you considered the water which you drink? 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 Have you ever considered the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you that produce the trees for it, or are We the producers? 72 We! it is We Who made it a reminder and a provision unto the campers. 73 So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great. 74
