a large throng from the ancients, 39 And a crowd of the later. 40 The Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 41 In hot wind and boiling water, 42 and a shade of thick, pitch-black smoke, 43 [shadows] neither cooling nor soothing. 44 Lo! heretofore they were effete with luxury 45 And were persisting in great sin (joining partners in worship along with Allah, committing murders and other crimes, etc.) 46 And they used to say: "When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be resurrected? 47 "(We) and our fathers of old?" 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 Are going to be assembled on the appointed time of a Day Known. 50 Then you, you misguided ones, who deny the truth, 51 Shall surely eat of the tree of Az-Zqqum. 52 "Then will ye fill your insides therewith, 53 And drinking on top of it from scalding water 54 And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 That will be their entertainment on the Day of Recompense! 56 We! it is We Who created you: wherefore confess ye not? 57 Did you ever consider the sperm that you emit? 58 Did you create it or was it We who created it? 59 We have incorporated death in your constitution, and We shall not be hindered 60 In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know. 61 And you have indeed learnt about the first creation, so why do you not ponder? 62 Tell Me! The seed that you sow in the ground. 63 Cause it ye to grow, or are We the Grower? 64 Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry powder, and ye would be left in wonderment, 65 Lo! we are laden with debt! 66 nay, we are deprived [altogether]." 67 Consider the water that you drink. 68 Is it ye who shed it from the raincloud, or are We the Shedder? 69 [It comes down sweet - but] were it Our will, We could make it burningly salty and bitter: why, then, do you not give thanks [unto Us]? 70 Have you ever considered the fire which you kindle? 71 Did you make its tree grow or was it We Who made it grow? 72 We made it a reminder and a provision for the needy. 73 Extol, then, the limitless glory of thy Sustainer's mighty name! 74

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
