A large group from the earlier generations. 39 and a throng of the later folk. 40 As for the people on the left hand, how miserable they will be! 41 They will be in the midst of scorching wind and boiling water, 42 And the shade of black smoke. 43 Which is neither cool nor is for respect. 44 Verily, before that, they indulged in luxury, 45 And used to persist in the awful sin. 46 It was they who said, "Shall we be resurrected after we die and have turned into dust and bones? 47 We and our fathers of old? 48 Say: "Yea, those of old and those of later times, 49 will be brought together for an appointment on an appointed day. 50 Then you erring ones, you that cried lies, 51 you shall eat (the fruit) of the Tree of Zakkum. 52 Then will fill your bellies with it. 53 And drink over it scalding water, 54 Lapping it up like female camels raging of thirst with disease." 55 This is their reception on the Day of Justice. 56 WE who have created you, [O men:] why, then, do you not accept the truth? 57 Have you thought about [the semen] that you discharge -- 58 Is it you who create it (i.e. make this semen into a perfect human being), or are We the Creator? 59 We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone 60 from changing your Forms and creating you (again) in (forms) that ye know not. 61 And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember? 62 Just ponder over what you sow: 63 Is it you who cause them to grow or do We? 64 If We so wished, We could have reduced your harvest to rubble, and you would have been left wonder-struck to exclaim: 65 Lo! we are laden with debt! 66 “In fact, we were unfortunate!” 67 Tell Me! The water that you drink. 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down? 69 If We pleased, We would have made it salty; why do you not then give thanks? 70 Tell Me! The fire which you kindle, 71 Is it you who have produced its tree or is it We who have produced it? 72 We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers, 73 Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty. 74
