A multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the first generation (who embraced Islam). 39 And a (goodly) number from those of later times. 40 But those of the left hand -- how those of the left hand -- 41 (They will be) in the midst of a Fierce Blast of Fire and in Boiling Water, 42 and under the shadow of black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor refreshing. 44 They were endowed with good things 45 And they persisted in the great violation. 46 And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected? 47 Or our fathers of yore? 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 Will be gathered together on a certain day which is predetermined. 50 and then, verily, O you who have gone astray and called the truth a lie, 51 You will indeed eat from the Zaqqum tree. 52 filling your bellies with it; 53 And shall be drinkers thereon of boiling water. 54 "So you will drink (that) like thirsty camels!" 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Requital. 56 It is We who have created you. Why then did you not testify to the Truth? 57 Just consider what you emit, 58 Create him ye, or are We the Creator? 59 We have decreed death to you all, and We are not unable, 60 that We may exchange the likes of you, and make you to grow again in a fashion you know not. 61 And verily ye know the first creation. Why, then, do ye not reflect? 62 Have you seen what you sow? 63 Cause it ye to grow, or are We the Grower? 64 Had We wanted, We could have crushed it to bits and you would have been left to lament, 65 "We have fallen into debt; 66 nay; we have been undone!” 67 Have you thought about the water you drink? 68 Do ye bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We? 69 If We had so pleased, We could have made it bitter. So why would you not give thanks? 70 Consider the fire that you strike and get by friction. 71 Produce ye the tree thereof, or are We the Producer? 72 It is We who have made it a means to remind [you of Us,] and a comfort for all who are lost and hungry in the wilderness [of their lives]. 73 Glorify, then, (O Prophet), the name of your Great Lord. 74
