A large group from the earlier generations. 39 and a large group of those of later times. 40 And the fellows on the left hand; how miserable shall the fellows on the left hand be! 41 They will live amid the scorching, 42 And in the shades of Black Smoke: 43 which will neither be cool nor soothing. 44 Surely they were before that made to live in ease and plenty. 45 And they persisted in the great violation. 46 and they used to say, "What! After we have died and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up again? 47 And also our forefathers? 48 Say: "Verily, those of olden times and those of later times 49 will be brought together for an appointment on an appointed day. 50 Then verily ye, O ye erring, denying people. 51 you will indeed have to taste of the tree of deadly fruit, 52 And will fill your bellies therewith; 53 and will thereupon have to drink [many a draught] of burning despair 54 "Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!" 55 Such will be their dwelling on the Day of Judgment. 56 We have created you, so why do you not believe? 57 Have you seen sperm? 58 Do you create it, or We are its creator? 59 We have incorporated death in your constitution, and We shall not be hindered 60 That We may substitute others like unto you and produce you into that which ye know not. 61 And assuredly ye have fully known the first production wherefore heed ye not? 62 Behold! that which ye sow. 63 Is it you who cause them to grow or do We? 64 Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry pieces, and you would be regretful (or left in wonderment). 65 "Verily, we are ruined! 66 Rather, we have been deprived." 67 Have ye observed the water which ye drink? 68 Did you send it down from the clouds, or did We send it? 69 If We will We can make it bitter, so why do you not give thanks? 70 Have you thought about the fire that you kindle. 71 Is it you who made the tree thereof to grow, or are We the Grower? 72 We have made it a Reminder (for the Hell-fire, in the Hereafter); and an article of use for the travellers (and all the others, in this world). 73 Then celebrate with praises the name of thy Lord, the Supreme! 74
