a large group of the earlier people 39 And a multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the later times (generations). 40 As for the People on the Left: how miserable will be the People on the Left! 41 mid burning winds and boiling waters 42 Under the shadow of thick black smoke 43 Neither cool nor beneficial. 44 Indeed they were among favours before this. 45 And they have been persisting in the heinous offence. 46 And they used to say: "When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be resurrected? 47 And also our forefathers? 48 Proclaim, “Without doubt all the former and the latter.” 49 “They will all be gathered together on the appointed time of the known day.” 50 "Then moreover, verily, you the erring-ones, the deniers (of Resurrection)! 51 shall eat the fruit of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 And shall fill therewith your bellies. 53 And drink over it scalding water, 54 "Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!" 55 Such shall be your hospitality on the Day of Recompense. 56 We have created you, then why would you not confirm it? 57 Have you considered the seed? 58 Is it you who create it - or are We the source of its creation? 59 We have incorporated death in your constitution, and We shall not be hindered 60 In the matter of exchanging you for others, and to transform you into what you do not know. 61 You have known the first creation, then why do you not reflect? 62 Have you seen what you sow? 63 Is it you who cause it to grow - or are We the cause of its growth? 64 Had We wanted, We could have crushed it to bits and you would have been left to lament, 65 (Saying), "We are indeed left with debts (for nothing): 66 Nay, but we have been deprived [of our livelihood]!" 67 Have you thought about the water you drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds or We? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 See ye the Fire which ye kindle? 71 Did you make its timber to grow, or did We make it? 72 We have made it a reminder, and a blessing to the traveler. 73 Glorify, then, (O Prophet), the name of your Great Lord. 74
