Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient 39 and also a large throng from those of later times. 40 The Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 41 In scorching wind and boiling hot water. 42 and the shadows of black smoke 43 Which is neither cool nor is for respect. 44 Surely they were before that made to live in ease and plenty. 45 and had persisted in the Great Sin. 46 And they were wont to say: when we have died and become dust and bones, shall we, then, verily be raised? 47 What, and our fathers, the ancients' 48 (Muhammad), say, "All the ancient and later generations 49 will indeed be gathered together at an appointed time on a Day known [only to God]: 50 "Then moreover, verily, you the erring-ones, the deniers (of Resurrection)! 51 Shall surely eat of the tree of Az-Zqqum. 52 and fill your bellies with it, 53 and drink boiling water on top of that, 54 drinking it as thirsty camels do.” 55 Such will be their dwelling on the Day of Judgment. 56 We created you, why will you not believe! 57 Have you thought about what (sperm) you ejaculate? 58 Did you create it or was it We who created it? 59 We have decreed death to you all, and We are not unable, 60 That We may substitute others like unto you and produce you into that which ye know not. 61 You have known the first creation, then why do you not reflect? 62 Have you considered the soil you till? 63 Is it you who cultivate it, or is it We Who develop it? 64 We could turn it, if We pleased, into straw; then you would rue the day, 65 (Saying), "We are indeed left with debts (for nothing): 66 nay, we are deprived [altogether]." 67 Have you considered the water you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it to descend from the clouds, or do We? 69 If We pleased, We would have made it salty; why do you not then give thanks? 70 Have you thought about the fire that you kindle. 71 Produce ye the tree thereof, or are We the Producer? 72 We! it is We Who made it a reminder and a provision unto the campers. 73 Then glorify with praises the Name of your Lord, the Most Great. 74
