A company of the former peoples 39 and a large group of those of later times. 40 BUT AS FOR those who have persevered in evil - what of those who have persevered in evil? 41 [They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water 42 in the shadow of a smoking blaze, 43 Neither cool nor agreeable. 44 Surely they were before that made to live in ease and plenty. 45 And persisted obstinately in wickedness supreme! 46 and constantly said: 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we then be restored to life? 47 And also our forefathers?" 48 Say: "Indeed, the earlier and the later generations 49 "They will all be gathered together - on the appointed time of the known day." 50 "Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!- 51 Will be eating from trees of zaqqum 52 Fill your bellies with it, 53 "And drink boiling water on top of it, 54 and you will drink as the lapping of thirsty camels. 55 This is their reception on the Day of Justice. 56 We have created you, so why do you not believe? 57 So what is your opinion regarding the semen you discharge? 58 Do you make a human out of it, or is it We Who create? 59 We have ordained death among you and We are not to be overcome, 60 In the matter of exchanging you for others, and to transform you into what you do not know. 61 And ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises? 62 See ye the seed that ye sow in the ground? 63 Is it you or We Who make them grow? 64 If We willed, We verily could make it chaff, then would ye cease not to exclaim: 65 crying, "We have been left to suffer loss. 66 nay, we are deprived [altogether]." 67 Have you considered the water that you drink? 68 Do ye bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We? 69 If We willed We verily could make it bitter. Why then, give ye not thanks? 70 And have you seen the fire that you ignite? 71 Did you produce the tree that serves as fuel or do We? 72 It is We who have made it a means to remind [you of Us,] and a comfort for all who are lost and hungry in the wilderness [of their lives]. 73 Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty. 74
