a good many of olden times, 39 and a large group of those of later times. 40 The Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 41 They will live amid the scorching, 42 And the shade of black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor beneficial. 44 They were endowed with good things 45 and persisted in the Great Sin, 46 And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised? 47 "(We) and our fathers of old?" 48 Tell them, (O Prophet): “The earlier ones and the later ones 49 shall be gathered to the appointed time of a known day. 50 Then you, the erring and the deniers, 51 Will eat of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 You shall fill your bellies with it, 53 and drink boiling water on top of that, 54 Lapping it up like female camels raging of thirst with disease." 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Judgement. 56 It is We Who have created you: why will ye not witness the Truth? 57 Then tell Me (about) the human semen that you emit. 58 Did you create it or was it We who created it? 59 It was We who decreed death among you. We will not be surpassed 60 In order that We may bring in your place the likes of you and make you grow into what you know not. 61 You certainly knew about (your) first development. Why do you not take heed? 62 Behold! that which ye sow. 63 Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer? 64 If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder, 65 (Saying): "We are indeed Mughramun (i.e. ruined or lost the money without any profit, or punished by the loss of all that we spend for cultivation, etc.)! The water that you drink. 68 Do ye bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 Have you considered the fire which you strike? 71 Is it you that originated its tree, or are We the Originator? 72 We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers, 73 (Muhammad), glorify your Lord, the Great One. 74
