۞ NAY, I call to witness the coming-down in parts [of this Qur'an] 75 and this is indeed a mighty oath, if only you knew – 76 That this is indeed a qur'an Most Honourable, 77 In a Register well-protected; 78 Which none shall touch but those who are clean: 79 a revelation from the Lord of the Universe. 80 Do you, then, take this discourse in light esteem, 81 And to give (it) the lie you make your means of subsistence. 82 Why, then, when the soul leaps up to the throat of the dying 83 the while you are helplessly watching that he is on the verge of death, 84 (And We are nigher him than you, but you do not see Us) 85 why, then, if [you think that] you are not truly dependent [on Us,] 86 why can you not bring it (the soul) back (to life)? 87 (If a dying soul) is of those near to God, 88 For him shall be comfort, and fragrance and a Garden of Delight. 89 And if he is one of those on the right hand, 90 Then peace to you from those on the right hand. 91 But if one happens to be of those who are wont to call the truth a lie, and [thus] go astray, 92 Then [for him is] accommodation of scalding water 93 And burning in Hell-Fire. 94 This is indeed the indubitable truth. 95 Therefor (O Muhammad) praise the name of thy Lord, the Tremendous. 96
