Say (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), “O People given the Book(s)! Come towards a word which is common between us and you, that we shall worship no one except Allah, and that we shall not ascribe any partner to Him, and that none of us shall take one another as lords besides Allah”; then if they do not accept say, “Be witness that (only) we are Muslims.” 64 O people of the Book! wherefore contend ye concerning Ibrahim, whereas the Taurat and the Injil were not sent down save after him! Will ye not then understand? 65 You are those who disputed about things of which you had some knowledge. Must you now argue about things of which you have no knowledge? God knows, but you do not know. 66 Ibrahim was not a Jew, nor a Nazarene, but he was an upright Muslim, nor was he of the associators. 67 Surely, the people who are closest to Abraham are those who followed him and this Prophet [Muhammad], and those who believe in him. God is the guardian of the believers. 68 There is a party of the People of the Book yearn to make you go astray; yet none they make to stray, except themselves, but they are not aware. 69 Ye People of the Book! Why reject ye the Signs of Allah, of which ye are (Yourselves) witnesses? 70 O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians): "Why do you mix truth with falsehood and conceal the truth while you know?" 71
