The Column (Al-Suff)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Everything in the heavens and earth glorifies God -- He is the Almighty, the Wise. 1 O you who believe, why do you profess what you do not practise? 2 Saying what you do not practice is odious to God. 3 Truly Allah loves those who fight in His Cause in battle array, as if they were a solid cemented structure. 4 Remember when Moses said to his people, "O my people, why do you cause me grief when you know that I am God's Messenger to you?" When they wavered, God let their hearts waver too. God does not guide transgressors. 5 And when Jesus, son of Mary, said: "O children of Israel, I am sent to you by God to confirm the Torah (sent) before me, and to give you good tidings of an apostle who will come after me, whose name is Ahmad (the praised one)." Yet when he has come to them with clear proofs, they say: "This is only magic." 6 Who could be more wicked than one who invents lies about God when called to submit to Him? God does not guide the wrongdoers: 7 Fain would they put out the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah will perfect His light however much the disbelievers are averse. 8 He it is Who has sent forth the Messenger with the Guidance and the True Religion that He may make it prevail over all religion, however those that associate aught with Allah in His Divinity might dislike this. 9
