The Column (Al-Suff)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
All that is in the heavens and the earth magnifies God; He is the All-mighty; the All-wise. 1 O YOU who have attained to faith! Why do you say one thing and do another? 2 It is most hateful to God that you do not practise what you preach; 3 Verily, God loves [only] those who fight in His cause in [solid] ranks, as though they were a building firm and compact. 4 Moses said to his people, "Why do you create difficulties for me when you know that I am God's Messenger to you?" When they deviated (from the right path), God led their hearts astray. God does not guide the evil-doing people. 5 And when Jesus son of Mary said: O Children of Israel! Lo! I am the messenger of Allah unto you, confirming that which was (revealed) before me in the Torah, and bringing good tidings of a messenger who cometh after me, whose name is the Praised One. Yet when he hath come unto them with clear proofs, they say: This is mere magic. 6 And who does more wrong than the one who invents a lie against Allah, while he is being invited to Islam? And Allah guides not the people who are Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers and disbelievers) folk. 7 They desire to extinguish with their mouths, the light of God; but God will perfect His light, though the unbelievers be averse. 8 He it is Who sent His Apostle with the guidance and the true religion, that He may make it overcome the religions, all of them, though the polytheists may be averse. 9
