The Column (Al-Suff)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is on the earth glorifies Allah. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. 1 O YOU who have attained to faith! Why do you say one thing and do another? 2 Grievously odious is it in the sight of Allah that ye say that which ye do not. 3 Lo! Allah loveth them who battle for His cause in ranks, as if they were a solid structure. 4 And recall what time Musa said unto his people: O my people! wherefore hurt ye me, when surely ye know that verily I am Allah's apostle unto you? Then when they swerved, Allah made their hearts swerve; and Allah guideth not a transgressing people. 5 And (remember) when 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), said: "O Children of Israel! I am the Messenger of Allah unto you confirming the Taurat [(Torah) which came] before me, and giving glad tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad. But when he (Ahmad i.e. Muhammad SAW) came to them with clear proofs, they said: "This is plain magic." 6 And who is more unjust than one who invents about Allah untruth while he is being invited to Islam. And Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people. 7 They want to extinguish the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah will perfect His light, although the disbelievers dislike it. 8 It is He who has sent His Messenger with the guidance and the religion of truth, that he may uplift it above every religion, though the unbelievers be averse. 9
