The Column (Al-Suff)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
All that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth glorifieth Allah, and He is the Mighty, the Wise. 1 O you who have believed, why do you say what you do not do? 2 Most loathsome is it in the sight of God that you say what you do not do! 3 Verily, Allah loves those who fight in His Cause in rows (ranks) as if they were a solid structure. 4 And (remember) when Moses said unto his people: O my people! Why persecute ye me, when ye well know that I am Allah's messenger unto you? So when they went astray Allah sent their hearts astray. And Allah guideth not the evil-living folk. 5 And when Jesus son of Mary said, 'Children of Israel, I am indeed the Messenger of God to you, confirming the Torah that is before me, and giving good tidings of a Messenger who shall come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad.' Then, when he brought them the clear signs, they said, 'This is a manifest sorcery.' 6 And who does greater evil than he who forges against God falsehood, when he is being called unto surrender? And God guides never the people of the evildoers. 7 Their intention is to extinguish Allah's Light (by blowing) with their mouths: But Allah will complete (the revelation of) His Light, even though the Unbelievers may detest (it). 8 It is He who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religion, although those who associate others with Allah dislike it. 9
