The Column (Al-Suff)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth declares the glory of Allah; and He is the Mighty, the Wise. 1 O ye who believe! wherefore say ye that which ye do not? 2 It is most hateful to Allah that you should say that which you do not do. 3 Indeed Allah likes those who fight in His cause, positioned in rows, as if they were an edifice fortified. 4 And [mention, O Muhammad], when Moses said to his people, "O my people, why do you harm me while you certainly know that I am the messenger of Allah to you?" And when they deviated, Allah caused their hearts to deviate. And Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people. 5 And when Jesus son of Mary said: O Children of Israel! Lo! I am the messenger of Allah unto you, confirming that which was (revealed) before me in the Torah, and bringing good tidings of a messenger who cometh after me, whose name is the Praised One. Yet when he hath come unto them with clear proofs, they say: This is mere magic. 6 And who is more unjust than he who forges a lie against Allah and he is invited to Islam, and Allah does not guide the unjust people. 7 They seek to extinguish the Light of Allah with their mouths; but Allah will complete His Light, much as the unbelievers dislike it. 8 It is He who has sent His Messenger with the guidance and the religion of truth, that he may uplift it above every religion, though the unbelievers be averse. 9
