Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion of the Universe, and Who has power over everything; 1 He created death and life so that He might test you, and find out which of you is best in conduct. He is the Mighty, the Most Forgiving One. 2 He Who created the seven heavens one above another: No want of proportion wilt thou see in the Creation of (Allah) Most Gracious. So turn thy vision again: seest thou any flaw? 3 Then look again and yet again, thy sight will return unto thee weakened and made dim. 4 We have adorned the lower heaven with lamps, and have made them a means to drive away the satans. We have prepared for them the chastisement of the Blazing Fire. 5 And for those who disbelieve in their Lord there is the doom of hell, a hapless journey's end! 6 When they are thrown into it, they hear from it a [dreadful] inhaling while it boils up. 7 and wellnigh bursts asunder with rage. As often as a troop is cast into it, its keepers ask them, 'Came there no warner to you?'; 8 They will say: yea! surely there came a warner unto us, but we belied, and said: God hath not sent down aught, we are naught but in a great error. 9 They will say, "If we had only listened or understood, we should not now be among the inmates of Hell," 10 Thus will they confess their sins. Damned are these inmates of the Blazing Fire. 11 Surely those who fear their Lord in the Unseen -- there awaits them forgiveness and a great wage. 12 And conceal your speech or publicize it; indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts. 13 How could He who created not know His own creation, when He alone is the Most Subtle in His wisdom and the All Aware? 14
