Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HALLOWED be He in whose hand all dominion rests, since He has the power to will anything: 1 He who has created death as well as life, so that He might put you to a test [and thus show] which of you is best in conduct, and [make you realize that] He alone is almighty, truly forgiving. 2 [Hallowed be] He who has created seven heavens in full harmony with one another: no fault will thou see in the creation of the Most Gracious. And turn thy vision [upon it] once more: canst thou see any flaw? 3 Then return thy gaze again, and again, and thy gaze comes back to thee dazzled, aweary. 4 And indeed We have adorned the nearest heaven with lamps, and We have made such lamps (as) missiles to drive away the Shayatin (devils), and have prepared for them the torment of the blazing Fire. 5 The chastisement of Hell awaits those who disbelieve in their Lord. What a wretched destination! 6 When they are flung therein they hear its roaring as it boileth up, 7 as though bursting with rage. Each time a group is cast into it, its keepers will ask them, "Did no warner come to you?" 8 They will say: “Yes, a warner came to us, but we gave the lie to him and said: 'Allah has revealed nothing. You are surely in huge error.' 9 And they will say: had we been wont to hearken or to reflect, we had not been among the fellows of the Blaze. 10 and thus they will confess their sin; far from God's mercy are the inmates of Hell. 11 Verily! Those who fear their Lord unseen (i.e. they do not see Him, nor His Punishment in the Hereafter, etc.), theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward (i.e. Paradise). 12 And conceal your speech or publicize it; indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts. 13 Does He not know, Who created? And He is the Knower of the subtleties, the Aware. 14
