Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Blessed be He in whose hand is the Kingdom -- He is powerful over everything -- 1 He who has created death as well as life, so that He might put you to a test [and thus show] which of you is best in conduct, and [make you realize that] He alone is almighty, truly forgiving. 2 He Who created the seven heavens one above another: No want of proportion wilt thou see in the Creation of (Allah) Most Gracious. So turn thy vision again: seest thou any flaw? 3 Then look again and yet again, thy sight will return unto thee weakened and made dim. 4 And verily We have beautified the world's heaven with lamps, and We have made them missiles for the devils, and for them We have prepared the doom of flame. 5 And for those who disbelieved in their Lord is the punishment of Hell, and wretched is the destination. 6 When they are cast into it they shall hear it sighing, while it boils 7 Well-nigh it bursteth with rage. So oft as a company is cast thereinto, the keepers thereof will ask them: came there not unto you a warner? 8 They say: Yea, verily, a warner came unto us; but we denied and said: Allah hath naught revealed; ye are in naught but a great error. 9 And they say: Had we been wont to listen or have sense, we had not been among the dwellers in the flames. 10 They will confess to their sins, but the dwellers of hell will be far away from God's (mercy). 11 Indeed, those who fear their Lord unseen will have forgiveness and great reward. 12 Whether you speak in secret or aloud, He knows what is in every heart. 13 How could it be that He who has created [all] should not know [all]? Yea, He alone is unfathomable [in His wisdom,] aware! 14
