Kingship (Al-Mulk)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Mountain (Al-Toor) before Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HALLOWED be He in whose hand all dominion rests, since He has the power to will anything: 1 Who created death and life that He might try you as to which of you is better in deed. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Forgiving; 2 He Who created the seven heavens one above another: No want of proportion wilt thou see in the Creation of (Allah) Most Gracious. So turn thy vision again: seest thou any flaw? 3 Then look again and yet again, your sight will return to you in a state of humiliation and worn out. 4 We have adorned the lowest sky with lamps, and made them missiles against the devils, for whom We have prepared a torment of most intense fire. 5 And for those who disbelieve in their Lord will be the torment of Hell; and a hapless destination! 6 When they are cast into it, they will hear its roaring as it boils up, 7 as though it will burst with rage. Every time a multitude is cast into it, its keepers will ask them: “Did no warner come to you?” 8 They will say: “Yes, a warner came to us, but we gave the lie to him and said: 'Allah has revealed nothing. You are surely in huge error.' 9 They will say, "If we had only listened or understood, we should not now be among the inmates of Hell," 10 So now they admit their sins! Therefore accursed be the people of hell! 11 Surely forgiveness and a mighty reward await those who fear Allah without seeing Him. 12 And whather ye keep your discourse secret or publish it, verily He is the Knower of that which is in the breasts. 13 Shall He not know, who created? And He is the All-subtle, the All-aware. 14
