Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Blest be He in whose hand is the dominion, and He is over everything Potent. 1 Who created death and life that He may try you-- which of you is best in deeds; and He is the Mighty, the Forgiving, 2 Who created the seven skies one above the other. Do you see any disproportion in the creations of Ar-Rahman? Turn your eyes again. Do you see any fissures? 3 Look twice (and keep on looking), your eyes will only become dull and tired. 4 We have decked the lowest heavens with torches. With these torches We have stoned the devils and We have prepared for them the torment of hell. 5 And for those who disbelieve in their Lord there is the doom of hell, a hapless journey's end! 6 When they are cast therein, they will hear the (terrible) drawing in of its breath even as it blazes forth, 7 nearly bursting apart out of rage. Every time a host is cast therein, its keepers will ask them: 'Did no one come to warn you' 8 They will say: "Yes indeed; a Warner did come to us, but we rejected him and said, 'Allah never sent down any (Message): ye are nothing but an egregious delusion!'" 9 And they will say, "If only we had been listening or reasoning, we would not be among the companions of the Blaze." 10 Then they will confess their sin. So, away with the dwellers of the blazing Fire. 11 Verily! Those who fear their Lord unseen (i.e. they do not see Him, nor His Punishment in the Hereafter, etc.), theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward (i.e. Paradise). 12 Be secret in your speech, or proclaim it, He knows the thoughts within the breasts. 13 Does He who created not know, while He is the Subtle, the Acquainted? 14
