Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ HALLOWED be He in whose hand all dominion rests, since He has the power to will anything: 1 Who created death and life that He might try you as to which of you is better in deed. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Forgiving; 2 Who hath created seven heavens in storeys. Thou shalt not behold in the Compassionate's creation any over-sight; then repeat thy look, beholdest thou any crack? 3 Then return your gaze once more and yet again, your gaze comes back to you dazzled, and tired. 4 We have adorned the lower heaven with lamps, and have made them a means to drive away the satans. We have prepared for them the chastisement of the Blazing Fire. 5 And for those who disbelieve in their Lord there awaits the punishment of Gehenna (Hell) an evil arrival! 6 When they are cast therein, they will hear the (terrible) drawing in of its breath as it blazes forth. 7 It almost bursts up with fury. Every time a group is cast therein, its keeper will ask: "Did no warner come to you?" 8 They will reply: "Yea, a warner did indeed come unto us, but we gave him the lie and said, 'Never has God sent down anything [by way of revelation]! You [self-styled warners] are but lost in a great delusion!"' 9 They will say: 'If we had only listened and understood, we would not be among the inmates of the Blazing Fire.'” 10 They will then confess their sins: but far will be (Forgiveness) from the Companions of the Blazing Fire! 11 Those who fear their Lord in secret will receive forgiveness and a great reward. 12 And keep your opinion secret or proclaim it, lo! He is Knower of all that is in the breasts (of men). 13 Should not He Who has created know? And He is the Most Kind and Courteous (to His slaves) All-Aware (of everything). 14
