Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Sure Reality! 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 So do you see any survivor among them? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 In a Garden on high, 22 The fruits of which are near at hand: 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 However, those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their left hands will say, "We wish that this record had never been given to us 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 My wealth has not helped me a thing 28 I am bereft of power." 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 so today he has no friend here, 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
