Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 and then let him enter hell, 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
