Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 On that day all your secrets will be exposed. 18 Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 He is therefore in the desired serenity. 21 In high empyrean 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 My wealth has not availed me, 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 which only the sinners eat". 37

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
