Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 And the heaven will split asunder – so on that day it will be unstable. 16 and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 in an exalted garden 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
