Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Reality! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 in a high Garden, 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 and had not known my account. 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 and my authority has been destroyed' 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
