Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Reality! 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 To which He subjected them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that thou mightest have seen men during it lying prostrate, as though they were stumps of palms ruined. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 In a Garden on high, 22 The fruit clusters of which are hanging down. 23 Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 "I wish, would that it had been my end (death)! 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 then throw them into hell to be heated up therein. 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
