Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. 4 The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 And the heaven will split asunder – so on that day it will be unstable. 16 and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… 17 On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 so he will live in a state of Bliss 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 The fruits of which are near at hand: 23 (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 and then let him enter hell, 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 None shall eat it but the sinners. 37
