Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 So when the Trumpet will be blown, with a sudden single blow. 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 My wealth has not helped me a thing 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 Which none but the hellish eat." 37
