Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 on that Day shall that indubitable event come to pass; 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand – he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 In high empyrean 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 and then let him enter Hell. 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” 37
