Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 The Thamud and the Ad denied the (possibility of a) sudden calamity, calling it false. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. 9 They therefore disobeyed the Noble Messengers of their Lord – so He seized them with an intense seizure. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 in a lofty Garden 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: 25 Nor known whatever was my reckoning! 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 (It will be said): Take him and fetter him 30 Then in the Scorch roast him 31 then fasten him with a chain, seventy cubits long. 32 they did not believe in the great God, 33 and he never urged the feeding of the needy; 34 That is why he has no friend today, 35 Nor any food save filth 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
