Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 In an elevated garden, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 Would it had been the end! 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” 30 then cast him in the Fire, 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 so today he has no friend here, 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
