Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 He forced it upon them with strength, consecutively for seven nights and eight days so you would see those people overthrown in it, like trunks of date palms fallen down. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 In a lofty Garden 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 “All my power has vanished.” 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 they did not believe in the great God, 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 nor any food save the filth 36 Which none but the hellish eat." 37
