Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. 16 and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 So he shall be in a pleasing life 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 with its fruits within easy reach. 23 Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 And not known my account! 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 “Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest.” 33 Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 neither any food saving foul pus, 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
