Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Reality! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 In an elevated garden, 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 Behold, he never believed in God the All-mighty, 33 Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 None shall eat it but the sinners. 37
