Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Reality - 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Beholdest thou any of them remaining? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 In a high garden 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book 25 and neither known this my account! 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 (It will be said): Take him and fetter him 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
