Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Beholdest thou any of them remaining? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), 13 And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- 14 on that Day, the Event occurs. 15 And the heaven will split asunder – so on that day it will be unstable. 16 and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. 17 On that day all your secrets will be exposed. 18 Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 He is therefore in the desired serenity. 21 in a high Garden, 22 the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 None will eat except the Khati'un (sinners, disbelievers, polytheists, etc.). 37
