Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! 4 As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 in a lofty garden, 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 And I had not known what my account was: 26 "I wish, would that it had been my end (death)! 27 My wealth has not helped me a thing 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 and then let him enter hell, 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 Which none but the hellish eat." 37
