Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Reality - 1 What is the Inevitable? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. 6 To which He subjected them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that thou mightest have seen men during it lying prostrate, as though they were stumps of palms ruined. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 He is therefore in the desired serenity. 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 None will eat except the Khati'un (sinners, disbelievers, polytheists, etc.). 37
