Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 In high empyrean 22 its fruits are near. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 Then in the Scorch roast him 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 they did not believe in the great God, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 Nor any food save filth 36 “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” 37
